Now

A snapshot of what's currently taking up my time and attention.

I've been running things in parallel my whole working life. That's not a strategy I arrived at – it's just how my brain works. What I've learned is that the only way to sustain it is to be ruthlessly clear about what actually deserves my attention. This page is my honest answer to that question, right now.

Working

Most of my time right now is spent building Indiemaker – sharpening the platform, the positioning and the business systems that make it run. A significant amount of energy is also going into writing and building the operational scaffolding that sits underneath it all. Fewer moving parts, more leverage.

Alongside this, Machine Republic runs in the background – deliberate, selective, focused on software and digital products as long-term assets. I'm increasingly drawn to workflows that reduce chaos, favour leverage, and minimise unnecessary involvement.

Life

Beverley and Luke

We move between locations and educate our children privately – I design curriculum, coordinate tutors, teach directly, and manage the logistics that come with it. The focus is long-term capability rather than short-term milestones: a classical, literature-rich education paired with deliberate skill-building in language, reasoning, attention, and physical competence. The goal is thoughtful, capable adults. It takes real time and I give it that.

None of this would be possible without my partner in all of it – seventeen years of building, breaking, and fixing things together. The daily rhythm is deliberately simple. Deep work in the mornings, family in the afternoons. I cook most evenings, grow vegetables with varying success, and recently started gymnastics – which is humbling me in the best possible way.

Tinkering

In the background I'm experimenting with AI-based video and audio tools – mostly to understand where content production is heading and what systems might matter long-term. This is exploratory rather than core focus, which is exactly the right amount of attention to give it for now. I also built this website using Nitro – a Python-based static site generator. It's good to play.

Reading

Books are my only real vice. I spend more time in bookshops than I probably should and still believe a well-chosen book is the best gift you can give someone. Last year I read The Brothers Karamazov – worthwhile, but relentlessly heavy. I've come back to Japanese myths, which suits me far better, and I'm rereading Jim Collins alongside it.
